Upgrading Your Plan
Upgrading your SignNXT subscription is quick and easy. Whether you're moving from Trial to paid, or from Starter to Professional, the process is seamless with no downtime.
Only the Workspace Owner can upgrade plans. Admins and Members cannot access billing.
Before You Upgrade
Check Your Current Plan
Before upgrading, verify your current subscription:
- Go to Settings (click your profile icon)
- Click the Billing tab
- See your current plan at the top
Choose Your New Plan
Decide which plan fits your needs:
Upgrade to Starter if:
- You're on Trial and have 5 or fewer users
- You only need basic document signing
- You want the most affordable option
Upgrade to Professional if:
- You need templates or campaigns
- You have more than 5 users
- You want all features and unlimited users

Choose Billing Cycle
Decide between monthly and annual billing:
Monthly Billing:
- Pay month-to-month
- More flexibility
- No long-term commitment
Annual Billing (Recommended):
- Save 20% on all plans
- One payment per year
- Budget predictability
Savings:
- Starter: $10/mo → $8/mo (annual)
- Professional: $20/mo → $16/mo (annual)
Annual billing saves you 20% and is our most popular choice. For a 5-person team on Professional, that's $240/year in savings!
Upgrading from Trial
Step 1: Go to Billing Settings
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Select Settings
- Click the Billing tab
If you don't see the Billing tab, you're not the Workspace Owner. Contact your Owner to upgrade.
Step 2: Choose Your Plan
Scroll down to see the plan options. You'll see:
- Starter Plan card
- Professional Plan card
Step 3: Select Billing Cycle
Toggle between Monthly and Annual billing:
- Click Monthly for month-to-month billing
- Click Annual for 20% savings
The pricing updates automatically when you toggle.
Step 4: Set Seat Count
If you have multiple team members:
- Find the Number of Seats selector
- Adjust the number to match your team size
- Pricing updates automatically
Example:
- 3 users on Professional Monthly: $60/month
- 3 users on Professional Annual: $48/month ($576/year)
Step 5: Click Upgrade Button
Click the Upgrade or Select Plan button on your chosen plan.
Step 6: Enter Payment Details
You'll be redirected to Stripe Checkout (secure payment page):
- Email: Pre-filled with your account email
- Card Information:
- Card number
- Expiry date (MM/YY)
- CVC code
- Billing Address:
- Country
- ZIP/Postal code
SignNXT uses Stripe for secure payment processing. Your card details are never stored on our servers.
Step 7: Complete Payment
- Review your order summary
- Click Subscribe or Pay
- Wait for payment confirmation
Step 8: Confirmation
After successful payment:
- You're redirected back to SignNXT
- See success message: "🎉 Payment successful!"
- Your subscription is now active
- Full access to all plan features
Upgrading from Starter to Professional
If you're already on a paid plan and want to upgrade:
Step 1: Go to Billing Settings
Navigate to Settings > Billing.
Step 2: View Current Plan
You'll see your current Starter plan at the top with details:
- Plan name
- Billing cycle
- Renewal date
- Number of seats
Step 3: Choose Professional Plan
Scroll down to the Professional Plan card.
Step 4: Select Billing Cycle
Choose Monthly or Annual (Annual saves 20%).
Step 5: Adjust Seats (If Needed)
Professional allows unlimited users, so you can add more seats if needed.
Step 6: Click Upgrade
Click the Upgrade to Professional button.
Step 7: Confirm Upgrade
A confirmation dialog appears showing:
- New plan details
- Prorated charge amount
- Effective date (immediate)
Step 8: Confirm Payment
Click Confirm Upgrade to process the payment.
Step 9: Upgrade Complete
Your plan upgrades immediately:
- ✅ Professional features unlocked
- ✅ Prorated charge applied
- ✅ Next billing date adjusted
- ✅ No downtime
Upgrades are applied immediately! You can start using Professional features right away.
Understanding Prorated Charges
When you upgrade mid-cycle, you're charged a prorated amount.
How Proration Works
Example: Upgrading from Starter to Professional
Scenario:
- Current plan: Starter Monthly ($10/user)
- New plan: Professional Monthly ($20/user)
- 1 user
- 15 days remaining in billing cycle
Calculation:
- Unused Starter credit: $10 × (15/30) = $5.00
- Professional cost for 15 days: $20 × (15/30) = $10.00
- Prorated charge: $10.00 - $5.00 = $5.00
You pay $5.00 now, then $20/month on your next billing date.
Prorated charges ensure you only pay for what you use. You get credit for unused time on your old plan.
Proration Examples
Example 1: Upgrade with 1 week left
- Old plan: Starter ($10/user/month)
- New plan: Professional ($20/user/month)
- Time remaining: 7 days
- Prorated charge: ~$2.33
Example 2: Upgrade on renewal date
- Old plan: Starter ($10/user/month)
- New plan: Professional ($20/user/month)
- Time remaining: 0 days
- Prorated charge: $0 (pay full $20 for new month)
Example 3: Upgrade with 3 weeks left
- Old plan: Starter ($10/user/month)
- New plan: Professional ($20/user/month)
- Time remaining: 21 days
- Prorated charge: ~$7.00
Payment Methods
Accepted Cards
SignNXT accepts all major credit and debit cards:
- ✅ Visa
- ✅ Mastercard
- ✅ American Express
- ✅ Discover
- ✅ Diners Club
- ✅ JCB
We currently only accept credit/debit cards. PayPal, bank transfers, and other payment methods are not supported.
Card Security
Your payment information is secure:
- ✅ Processed by Stripe (PCI-compliant)
- ✅ Encrypted transmission
- ✅ Never stored on SignNXT servers
- ✅ Secure 3D authentication when required
- ✅ Fraud detection
Updating Payment Method
After upgrading, you can update your card:
- Go to Settings > Billing
- Scroll to Payment Methods
- Click Add Payment Method
- Enter new card details
- Set as default (optional)
After Upgrading
What Happens Immediately
When your upgrade completes:
✅ Instant Access:
- New features unlocked immediately
- No waiting period
- No downtime
✅ Billing Updated:
- New plan active
- Next billing date set
- Invoice generated
✅ Team Notified:
- Workspace Owner receives confirmation email
- Invoice sent to billing email
Accessing New Features
After upgrading to Professional:
Templates:
- Go to Templates in main navigation
- Click New Template to create your first template
Campaigns:
- Go to Campaigns in main navigation
- Click New Campaign to send bulk documents
Reminders & Expiry:
- Available when creating/sending documents
- Configure in document send settings
Certificate of Completion:
- Automatically generated for completed documents
- Enable sharing in document settings
Billing Cycle
Your billing cycle depends on when you upgraded:
Upgraded from Trial:
- Billing starts on upgrade date
- Renews monthly or annually from that date
Upgraded from Starter:
- Prorated charge applied immediately
- Next full charge on original renewal date
- Billing cycle unchanged
Example:
- Original renewal: 15th of each month
- Upgrade: 5th of month
- Prorated charge: 5th (for remaining days)
- Next full charge: 15th (as usual)
Troubleshooting
"I don't see the Billing tab"
Only Workspace Owners can access billing.
Solution:
- Check your role in Profile settings
- If you're an Admin or Member, contact your Owner
- Ask the Owner to upgrade the plan
"My payment was declined"
Common reasons for declined payments:
- Insufficient funds - Check your balance
- Expired card - Update card details
- Incorrect details - Verify card number, expiry, CVC
- Bank block - Contact your bank
- International card - Some banks block international charges
Solution:
- Verify card details are correct
- Try a different card
- Contact your bank to authorize the charge
- Contact SignNXT support if issue persists
"I was charged but didn't get upgraded"
If payment succeeded but plan didn't upgrade:
Solution:
- Wait 2-3 minutes (processing time)
- Refresh the page (F5 or Ctrl+R)
- Log out and back in
- Check billing history for the charge
- Contact support with invoice number
"I want to upgrade but can't afford it"
If budget is a concern:
Options:
- Start with Starter - More affordable at $10/user/month
- Annual billing - Save 20% with upfront payment
- Reduce seats - Start with fewer users, add more later
- Contact sales - Discuss custom pricing for larger teams
"Can I upgrade just for one month?"
No, subscriptions are ongoing until canceled. However:
- Monthly billing gives you flexibility
- Cancel anytime (no long-term commitment)
- Downgrade to Starter if Professional is too expensive
"What if I upgrade by mistake?"
If you accidentally upgraded:
Within 24 hours:
- Contact support immediately
- May be eligible for refund
- Depends on usage
After 24 hours:
- No refunds for partial periods
- Can downgrade (takes effect at period end)
- Can cancel subscription
Review your plan selection carefully before confirming payment. Refunds are not guaranteed.
Best Practices
Upgrade Before Trial Ends
Don't wait until the last day:
✅ Upgrade 2-3 days before expiry:
- Avoid any service interruption
- Time to resolve payment issues
- Smooth transition
❌ Don't wait until expiry:
- Risk of access loss
- Payment issues cause delays
- Team productivity affected
Choose Annual Billing
If you're committed to SignNXT:
✅ Annual billing benefits:
- Save 20% on all plans
- One payment per year
- Budget predictability
- Less admin overhead
ROI Example:
- 10 users on Professional Monthly: $2,400/year
- 10 users on Professional Annual: $1,920/year
- Savings: $480/year
Start with Right Plan
Choose the plan that fits your needs:
